PALSPlus eLibrary and the Libby app
Get digital access to best-selling and classic eBooks, audiobooks, and magazines powered by Libby (formally OverDrive) and available 24/7. Browse the collection, borrow with your library card, and enjoy on your computer, tablet, smartphone, or e-reader. Libby is the replacement app released by OverDrive. The OverDrive app was discontinued on May 31, 2023 and no longer works. Libby has the same collection of titles as the OverDrive app – it’s just a different way to access the same digital library collection. Visit palsplus/overdrive.com or download the “Libby, by Overdrive” app from your App Store on your device to get started.

Project Gutenberg has over 45,000 titles that are in the public domain (no longer protected by copyright). For the most part, this means the titles are from 1923 or older.

Google Books contains books that have been scanned from major university libraries. Only public domain titles can be downloaded in their entirety. Other titles only allow a snippet view. Use the search box to find titles on a topic, then use the Search Tools to switch from “Any books” to “Free Google eBooks.” Use the gear icon on the right side of the screen to download in pdf format. For example, take a look at History of Bergen and Passaic Counties, New Jersey from 1882.
