Thanks to a generous $25,000 donation from the Friends of West Milford Library, new state-of-the-art computers will replace all of the existing computers at the library by January 2020.
Nearly all of the library’s current computers are running on an old operating system and hardware, which has caused a noticeable decline in stability and performance.
Features on the new computers will include faster booting time, and access speeds 100 times faster than the current computers. New 23-inch monitor screens can rotate for vertical or horizontal viewing, and smaller CPUs will make it easier for patrons to access USB ports and headphone jacks. All machines will run on the Windows 10 operating system, with the expanded Microsoft Office suite of programs installed.
“With all these new technology upgrades, the library is fulfilling its mission to be the cultural, educational, information and technology hub of the community,” says library Board Vice-President Jim Rogers.
