West Milford Township Library Presents : Folk Music, Dance & Poetry.
Saturday, June 3, 1:30 pm -3:00 pm at Camp Hope
Located on the shores of Greenwood Lake, Camp Hope is a lovely retreat in Passaic County, NJ, a delightful place to enjoy poetry and folk music.
As a special treat, Beth Ann Matromarino will be teaching the tammurriata, a popular Italian folk dance, originally from Campania in Southern Italy. The tammurriata is “o ballo de campagnole” (farmer’s dance) with gestures inspired by home and field, such as sieving flour or breaking macaroni or the movements of birds. It is simultaneously a song, a dance, and a prayer.
Susan Lembo Balik will do a poetry reading.
Picnic tables and chairs will be set up outside. Or bring a blanket if you’d like.
No need to register. Just show up.
