Graphic Novels Galore!

on Tue, 10/16/2012 - 7:33pm

Graphic novels are in high demand lately, and you can find a great selection of titles over in the Children's Dept.  Just come on in and look for the books that have the Graphic Novels label on the spine.  They are easy to find. Here are just a few that we have recently added to our collection:

Who doesn't love Jennifer Holm's BabyMouse? And she's back, just in time to run for President!

Matthew Forsythe's Jinchalo is a mixture of fantasy and Korean folk tale.

Madeleine L'Engle's classic, A Wrinkle in Time, has been adapted with excellent pictures to accompany this sci-fi fantasy/adventure!

Wanted: Tween Book Reactions!!

Tween Scene!

Hey Tweens, complete this sentence:  The best books for tweens are___________???

And why?? You tell us!

WMTL is always looking for book recommendations from their patrons.  But we don’t want a recommendation from you, we want a BOOK REACTION! Why not let us know what you like and why?  It’s easy!  Stop in to the Children’s Room at any time and fill out one of our WOW forms that is specifically designed with you (a tween) in mind.  What is a WOW form?  WOW! stands for Write on WMTL.  It is a way to share your thoughts, feelings and reactions to a book that you have read.  This is more than just, “Oh yeah, I loved that book!” or the standard plot summary.  This is about WHY you would tell someone else that this book is so amazingly awesome that they must stop everything they are doing and begin reading that book RIGHT NOW! Who is your favorite character? Why?  Do you have a favorite, funny, or memorable line from the story?  Is there someone from the story that you dislike intensely?  Here’s your chance to react to what you have read and share it with others.

All book reviews will be posted on the library’s Tween Reads blog, which can be found on the library’s website.  Don’t worry, we will keep your reactions private by only using your first name and age to identify each entry.  If you have any questions, please contact Julie Bramley at 973-728-2823.
