Sing and Sign with Junior Jam

Monday 7/1, 7/8 and 7/15
10:30 a.m.—11:15 a.m.
Learn sign language through music with Jeffrey Friedberg of Junior Jam, a certified sign language teacher and musician. Each class builds upon the one before therefore, participation in all three classes is required. Ages 1-4. Limited to 20; under the tent.

Dig into Sand Art

Tuesday 7/2
2:30—3:30 p.m.
This summer it’s all about the digging! Choose a container, dig into the rainbow of sand, and create a colorful design to brighten up any room. Ages 3 and up. There will be 2 sessions: 2:30-3:00 and 3:00-3:30. Each session is limited to 25; under the tent. This program will be rescheduled in the event of rain

The Wild Life

Rizzo's Wildlife brings the world of reptiles to the library so gather your family and friends to meet a variety of creatures! All ages. Limited to 75; under the tent.

Crazy Heads

Friday 7/5
10:30 a.m.—11:30 a.m.
Green grass grows all around, but how about as hair? Let’s see how hairy you can make the Children’s Room this summer by planting grass seed inside a crazy head character designed by you! The crazy heads will stay at the library on display. Stop by any time to see how your hair is growing! Limited to 20. Ages 3 and up; under the tent.

Lego Station

Tuesday 7/9
1:30 p.m.—3:30 p.m.
Calling all Lego builders! We’re counting on you to infest the library with Lego bugs—design a bug to be displayed at the Library all summer! Ages 6 and up. There will be 2 sessions: 1:30-2:30 and 2:30-3:30. Each session is limited to 10; in the Library.

Art Kids Academy: Fossils

Wednesday 7/10
11:00—12:15 p.m.
Get a close up look at the world of fossils with Art Kids Academy. Uncover dinosaur bones, then create fossil rubbings and art using clay. Ages 8-14. Limited to 25; in Town Hall.

Bug Time Stories

Wednesday 7/10
7:00—7:30 p.m.
 Listen to stories and rhymes about the lives of bugs. Craft activity included. Ages 2 and up. Limited to 20; under the tent.

Dig into Earth Science

Friday 7/12
11:00—12:00 p.m.
Mad Science brings an interactive program to the library featuring the earth, the air and a volcanic eruption! Limited to 75. Ages 6 and up; under the tent.

Pin Stop

Tuesday 7/16
10:30—11:45 a.m.
Create a unique pin of our own design using Perler beads. For ages 8-13. Limited to 20; under the tent.

Dig into Magic

Tuesday 7/16
3:00—4:00 p.m.
Brian Richards is back with his zany humor and laugh out loud magic tricks! Limited to 75. All ages; at Town Hall.

The Bugs of Blackwood

Wednesday 7/17
7:00—8:00 p.m.
Science and storytelling meet in Piccirillo Sciencetelling’s harrowing tale of Benjamin, a bug who lives on Blackwood Lane. See if Benjamin’s friends can save him with experiments before all hope is squashed! Ages 4 and up; under the tent. This program will be rescheduled in the event of rain.

Bugs on the Go

Thursday 7/18
11:00 a.m.—11:45 a.m.
Learn about the structure, characteristics, and basic needs of organisms when Insectropolis brings their bugs to the library! See a variety of live arthropods as well as pinned specimens. Ages 5-12. Limited to 30; in Town Hall.

I Dig Yoga!

Tuesday 7/23
11:00—11:45 a.m.
Yoga is considered a powerful relaxation tool for children and—it’s fun too! Join Michelle Brook for an introduction to this ancient practice. Ages 5-10. Limited to 10; under the tent. This program will be rescheduled in the event of rain.

3-2-1 Mime!

4:30—5:30 p.m.
Comedic mime, Robert Rivest brings his hilarious, interactive Dig into Reading show to the library. Laugh, mime and have a great time! Limited to 75. All ages; under the tent.

Story Paws

Thursday 7/25
10:30—11:00 a.m.
Visit the library for stories about our furry four-legged friends and meet Kristy, one of our R.U.F.F therapy dogs! Ages 2 and up. Limited to 30; under the tent.

Lap Tots

Get ready for giggles! Sing, clap and play at this energetic lapsit event designed especially for the little ones. Babies up to age 2½. Limited to 20; under the tent.

The Dinosaur Hunter

Monday 7/29
11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Veteran actor David Engel is back as zany adventurer, Prof. Livingpebble. He is hunting dinos and is coming to find the inner T-Rex in you! Slither, fly or stomp on down to the library and join this nutty professor on a Dino-Safari! Safari attire is welcome! Ages 4 and up. Limited to 75; at Town Hall.

Sand, Seas and Puppets!

Tuesday 7/30
3:00 p.m.—4:00 p.m.
Ahoy land lubbers! Set a course for adventure with the jolly Puppet People and solve the mystery of The Pirate of Book Island. Lads and lassies of all ages are welcome. Limited to 75; under the tent.

 

Crochet It—Together!

Wednesday 7/31 and 8/7
10:00—11:00 a.m.
Miss Julie will teach the basics of crochet at our first ever parent/child crochet program! Each person will receive a hook and yarn to make a snuggly scarf for the upcoming winter season. Participation in both sessions is required. Ages 9-14. Limited to 5 groups of two; in the Library.

Remarkable Rocks

Become a junior geologist with the Flat Rock Brook Nature Association and learn how to identify the three different families of rocks. Ages 5 and up. Limited to 30; in Town Hall.

Construction Zone Stories

Enter the library construction zone at your own risk! Stories and hard hats are provided by the library. Ages 2 and up. Limited to 20; under the tent.

Fossil Dig

John Miller of Pearl Observatory brings the fossil dig to the library! Search for bones, coral and even shark teeth! Ages 5 and up. There will be 2 sessions: 10:00-11:00 and 11:00-12:00. Each session is limited to 25; under the tent. This program will be rescheduled in the event of rain.
